TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1
Travelling by train to Kidderminster. Luggage stowed we visit the Severn Valley Railway to enjoy a light lunch in the station buffet before boarding the steam train to Bridgnorth. We continue by coach to Shrewsbury.

DAY 2
This morning is free for sightseeing; explore Shrewsburys picturesque medieval alleys and myriad listed buildings, enfolded in a loop of the River Severn. Midday we travel to Wroxeter Vineyard for a tour including wine tasting and a light lunch. Then to Attingham Park, to explore the elegant Regency mansion with commanding views over the magnificent, artfully landscaped, deer park.

DAY 3
Today we relax on our lovely circular train journey of mountain vistas and seascapes. We travel through the hills of mid-Wales to the estuary of the Dovey; turning north our train hugs the coast as castles and the mountains of Snowdonia come into view. At Porthmadog we board our narrow gauge steam train and climb inland to Blaenau Ffestiniog; here we transfer to our branch line train to descend the beautiful Conway Valley, before journeying along the North Wales coast and turning inland again to Chester and on to Shrewsbury.

DAY 4
We travel by coach in to the rolling hills of mid-Wales to visit the Chelsea award-winning Dingle Nursery & Garden. Then to Powis Castle, to relax in the world-famous, sumptuous garden of French and Italian influences, and to delight in the grandeur of the Castle perched on a rock, high above the garden terraces and orangery, and home to magnificent collections of paintings, sculpture and treasures from India in the Clive Museum. We conclude our day with a relaxing cruise on the River Severn.

DAY 5
We journey by coach to the worlds first Iron Bridge over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale and spend our day exploring this birthplace of industry, visiting some of the museums of the Ironbridge Gorge.

DAY 6
Enjoy time to explore this charming riverside town a little more, before we bid farewell to Shrewsbury and travel by train to homeward destinations.
