Day 1
Arrive and unwind in the beautiful city of Chester. You have plenty of time to take in the sight before joining the River Cruise along the Dee. Dinner will be at our hotel located in the city centre.
Day 2
After breakfast, we travel to Ellesmere Port and around the National Waterways Museum where you will learn about Roses and Castles! There will be a guided tour of the narrowboats collections, time for a recreational workshop and some crafts. Leisure time is accounted for before taking a cruise along the Shropshire Union Canal. We return to our hotel for dinner by train.
Day 3
A marvel of Victorian engineering awaits us today as you’ll experience Robert Aickman’s Anderton Boat Lift! You’ll have light refreshments and learn about canal history, before cruising along the River Weaver at a gentle pace. The afternoon will be spent in Chester at leisure, where you can discover the little black and white houses, the Roman museum, the famous Rows and the beautiful Cathedral. Don’t forget to experience the imposing Northgate Staircase Locks when you walk along the towpaths before returning to the hotel for dinner!
Day 4
Will you dare to cross the Pontcyscllte Aqueduct? The incredible aerial views, 126 feet above the River Dee, is an amazing sight not to be missed, as the highest and longest aqueduct in Britain. Our journey continues by road to Llangollen for some leisure time to look around the town, before returning and riding the glorious steam railway along the Dee Valley to Corwen.
